technical soft-shell poncho

Our thoroughly modernized version of the classic military poncho has more in common with technical sport jackets than the old vinyl camping stand-by that usually comes to mind. An industry first, it should reintroduce a generation to the functional benefits that having no sleeves affords.

The poncho can be stuffed into its own front pocket for storage. It even has a vent for drying!

Excellent Quality

While working in coastal Georgia I had to walk to work, twice in a hurricane/Cat 3 tropical storm. I wore the Poncho Villa to protect my rucksack contents and try to stay dry. Although soaked from mid-thighs on down before I even got to the street, after 40 minutes walking in monsoon rain my upper body and equipment stayed dry. This is an outstanding re-imagining of the classic rain poncho. Material feels good and the hood actually turns with my head. The pouch pocket works well to store it. Because the rain in Georgia comes on hard and fast I could get this out of my ruck and deployed quickly. Best of all I could take it off fast when the rain stopped. That meant I wasn't stuck wearing rain gear in a warm and humid environment. The quality is very high. Quality costs; I think this is a fair value. I can recommend this item wholeheartedly.

Superb

The fabric is great. Itâ€s not water proof but water resistant, which it does. Folding and unfolding is easy.

Quality product.

This poncho is made of quality materials and provides protection in inclement weather conditions. It is designed to provide its own carrying pouch and with a little practice works well. If i were placed in a scenario where I only had available one piece of outer wear this would be it. I would buy again although I believe this will last a long time.

If you can only have one...

Well, I delayed my review as I wanted to actually test it before just looking at it and saying it was nice. I have had this poncho in Coyote Brown for a little over two years, 03/2016. I cannot say how much I love this poncho. I have gone to Outdoor ranges in the rain, Camping, Hiking, mountains, about 5 different states, have used it in snow and rain, have worn it basically everywhere without a hiccup. I have used it as a tent on a camp ground, in the park to block the sun and even in my back yard with my son to tell scary stories at night. The material is water proof (at least it has been for me these last two (2) years and has kept me warm. If you have multiple layers on, as most people do in winter, I have found that removing my coat or a layer has kept me from sweating up a storm. The fabric is easy to clean, and I can keep it folded up and in my book bag everywhere I go. I cannot say how much I have loved this thing. I will be getting another one in black so as not to look so tactical out in town. (not that I care what other people will think of me, but gives me an excuse to tell the wife ;) ).
