rugged rolling carry-on

Sport/fashion branded carry-on's don't perform well on a bombed runway in Afghanistan loaded with contractor's supplies, or a cobble-stone street pulling news-camera gear. This model is the 4x4, heavy-truck equivalent to their station-wagon. And you won't look like a fashion victim standing amongst the pros when you arrive with this feature-loaded partner by your side.

Differences between Original vs MK2. (2020) Air Support Luggage:
1. Replace all rubber textile with Cordura® fabrics (more abrasion resistant and last way longer.)
2. Interior liner changed to tricot instead of polyester to allow for the use of hook-fastener dividers.
3. Replace generic locking buckles with Hazard 4® patented Roto-Lock buckles (already implemented on some of the later batches of the original design.)
4. Simplify decorative trim lines to reduce weight.
5. Reduced padding on the laptop pocket in the main compartment, so the pocket can be stored away allowing for more space when not needed.

Instruction/Care

Never use a washer or a dryer to clean/dry your pack. Be sure to empty all pockets, shake out dirt and debris. Soak your Hazard 4® bag in lukewarm water with mild detergent for 10-15 minutes and swish it vigorously. Use clean sponge, cloth to clean dirty spots. Use a clean small and soft brush such as a toothbrush to scrub clogged zipper teeth or pocket corners - be very gentle so you don't damage any coating or finish. Rinse thoroughly to remove any detergent residue. Dry all metal parts completely as quickly as possible. Use a lubricant made for zippers to improve zipper slide. Invert your pack inside out and hang it to dry in shade. DO NOT place it in direct sunlight as UV light can degrade and discolor the fabric.

Dependable

I am a field service engineer who travels as much as 85% of the year. I purchased the "Air Support" bag as my carryon nearly 9 years and a half million air miles ago and it is still going. This is a well made, quality product.

Five year follow up - yes....Five years

Just another followup on this amazing piece of luggage. 1) No, Hazard 4 isn't paying for this and 2) no, I didn't get a free bag from Hazard4 for these reviews. Its just that every time I travel, this is my 'go to' bag. Still, the same one I purchased in 2018 and it's still going strong. No issues. No problems. No rips. No tears. I do check this bag most of the time when I travel, and yes, I still manage about 150 flights a year (seems like more this year), but this bag handles it every time without any issues. Still going strong. If anything happens to this bag, I would definitely buy this again. Can't go wrong with this bag. Carry on.

Three-year followup! Still FIVE stars!

This is a follow-up review. You can scroll around and see I left one about a month after I purchased this carryon/roller travel bag. This bag fits the bill every single time. I travel extensively. I'm on the a-list for three airlines and log about one-hundred-and-fifty flights (yes, even during this COVID BS) a year and this is my main bag. I looked far and wide for a 1000D Cordura bag (I won't buy anything less for travel), and this seemed perfect. Sometimes I check it. Sometimes I carry it on. So far, it still looks brand new! It holds about a business week's worth of clothes, in addition to my laptop, power cords, and some small extra things. Great pockets on the inside and outside. Since COVID, I started carrying a set of travel silverware with me, so I check the bag when I do that. I'm sure it's been beaten up, but like I said this bag comes through. There are two separate locking compartments. One for a laptop sleeve (yes, you can check a laptop even with the battery in it - a little known TSA fact), and one for clothes etc. Although the laptop sleeve does take up some space inside the clothing section, it is in a position where you're still left with a lot of room. Inside you've got two tightening straps so even if you're using those vacuum bags for your clothes (which I advise), it'll help compact them even more. Leaving some extra room for little knick-knacks - like a pair of sandals or shoes. I'll throw in a travel router as well as a Roku stick, power adapters, shave kit and everything has always arrived fully in tact. I can't recommend this bag enough. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of it, and when it finally gives, I'm definitely going to be purchasing another one of these (as long as they keep making it out of 1000D Codoura. Can't beat the quality of the construction and the durability of the whole bag overall.

Great carry on luggage

This pack is rugged and just right if you are a rough traveler. I normally travel with my gear and this bag is perfect because it loads up nicely, has great exterior pockets, but the molle around the bag allows me attach even more stuff.

Excellent carry on travel bag! The best!

I searched high and low for a carry-on bag that would meet two requirements: 1) be a tough MF, and 2) fit into Southwest's overhead compartments (some airlines seems to be different than others). This fit the bill under both headings. This bag is very well made. The quality of the fabric is the best. All the stitches and seams are well sewn and sealed. It is very rugged, and it has won me over to Hazard4 over my standards - 5.11 and Thule. This bag held everything I needed for a five business day long trip, along with extras, and had a sleeve for my laptop. I used to carry my laptop in a shoulder bag carrier, but now I use this and free my 'under the seat' bag for lighter things. This bag is not only tough, but it looks great AND it fits in all variants of Southwest's 737 fleet without any struggle. Great job Hazard4 on this bag! I would not hesitate to purchase another one (if I ever wear this one out!)

Weaponized

These guys took your traditional, everyday rollaboard and weaponized it. I love this thing, for all the reasons the reader of this review would appreciate. As another wrote: bombproof. This thing has mucho capacity, you just need to PACK this bag, not lay stuff into it. I'll hold more than you think at first glance. Laptop sleeve I could do without, but it tucks away easily enough. Handle retracts with a smooth snap- feels like it will outlast my previous 2 "top brand" bags.. Stands upright with fully loaded 'Ditch' briefcase attached. I don't anticipate replacing this bag. Ever.

Great bag. Well made. Lots of extras. A heavy weight bag, that when fully loaded, might be difficult for a some to put in the over head bin.

Great Carry-On

I debated on ordering this for a couple months; I did not need a new carry-on but I wanted to replace my Samsonite with a carry-on that was a little bit smaller and this is perfect (the Samsonite was to deep to get it into overhead compartments very easily). This carry-on feels like a Bugout bag was converted to a more ridged frame carry-on. The material is good, and it doesn't feel as rough on the outside as my Bugout bag. The inside material is soft and slightly padded; not enough to take up much room but enough to notice. The compression straps and molle on the outside feel very sturdy, and I expect they'll hold up well overtime. The wheels are thick and should handle any surface they roll over without damaging them. The only con I have is more of an inconvenience; and that is the laptop pad. It is well constructed and works great, but I don't use it to store my laptap when I travel so it just takes up extra room. I rolled it up inside and it's out of the way, but there's a little extra space taken up inside the bag that could be used for clothes or gear. Everything on this pack feels strong and well built, and I don't see myself having any troubles with this carry-on. I am glad I bought this carry-on, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Not for the Casual -- Zombie Apocolypse Ready and Able

Road warrior field service and this bag holds up. BE AWARE that the screws in the sides of the handle (phillips) and the front an back of the telescoping rods (T8 torx) will loosen over hard-use time and will need 30 seconds of "tune up" with the proper tools. I may resort to Loctite threadlocker at some point, but it doesn't happen that often ... twice last year over 70k miles. Also although it does fit overhead on mid size birds (eg United A300) wheels first, it gives the impression to some FA that the handle sticks out too far and the bin lid won't close. It does just fine with slight added effort. The "locks" on the plastic compression strap buckles are a bit fiddly. I may remove them for convenience. There's no way the buckles once snapped in will pop loose... the little slide lock latches are redundant and slow you down IMO. The electronics pouch area gets in the way and is a bit of a pain, EXCEPT when you need it. From my seat I witnessed my bag falling from the top of the loading conveyor, and hitting the ground face first on the pouch area where my otherwise naked tablet was. I was sure it would be toast, or at least a cracked screen. Later discovered not a scratch. Random empirical event, but in my mind the price of this well-made and executed gear was offset by saving my tablet. Also be aware that I had a lot of Molle plans for the front and side, but this will put you over the MLC limit and not be able to fit in the "test stand" without some serious squeezing. Even with out Molle add-ons, if you overpack this bag it will exceed MLC. I've never been forced to gate check, but several times I was challenged to "make it fit or else" ... which I did with some effort, anger, and attitude. This bag demands careful packing to avoid FA confrontations, but rewards you with cavernous capacity still under MLC, but with awesome durability, protection, and a nice roller system. Get this bag!

Great Carry On Bag!

The bag is heavy duty and well constructed. It is easy to roll on the large, heavy duty wheels, but still fit nicely into overhead compartment. Great bag.

Very Satisfied

Brought this on 4 trips so far. Loving the rugged wheels. They tackled the remnants of snow and ice (and street salt) wonderfully. Side pocket is perfect for easy access carry on liquids bag. Handle is rugged and moves smoothly, with two stopping points along its extending path for different heights. I'm quite happy with my purchase. Only two complaints, neither of them major... 1) I don't use the laptop pocket, and it really digs into the usable internal space. I have a separate carry on bag for my laptop (that I keep with me on flights, vs this bag which I stuff in the overhead bins). I choose to mitigate this by stuffing my socks in there, but i still wish it wasn't there. 2) 4 trips * 2 flights each way = 8 flights with this bag so far. On two of those flights, this bag exceeded the size of the overhead bin (when slid in depthwise). I can make it fit by turning it lengthwise, but that's kind of a rude thing to do on a crowded flight. Checking at the gate isn't the end of the world, and I don't necessarily wish it was smaller, but its frustrating that I never really know if it will fit in the overhead properly or not.

Excellent Product

Excellent product. The padded compartment causes some packing issues but it's quite useful in protecting electronics. The wheels are very durable and the handles are in convenient locations. I recommend this carry on to anyone that needs durable luggage.

Unmatched durability

Absolutely love this bag. I've put this through hell, and it's been through scores of domestic and international ports. I regularly use the laptop sleeve, and if I'm checking it I'll keep the dopt kit and other quick-need items in there so I don't have to open up the main compartment in the airport. Only downside is if it's completely full it may fall forward when a satchel is in top.
